HoopBus Show Bay LOVE
The story of ASW 2025
In February of 2025, Hoop Bus celebrated the NBA’s All Star Weekend with more than ten days of purpose-driven programming with the intention of harnessing basketball to uplift the community, celebrate local heritage, and inspire the next generation.
The Bay Area
Home to a rich cultural legacy of activism, art, and innovation, the Bay has long been a stage for game-changers—on and off the court. From Bill Russell’s dominance at USF to the revolutionary style of the "Run TMC" Warriors and the social impact of icons like Steph Curry and Oakland’s own Damian Lillard, the region has always shaped basketball’s past, present, and future.
Show Love Series
Each year, Hoop Bus hosts our Show Love Series, celebrating the global basketball community. We bring together brands, NBA stars, and community organizations to host purpose-driven youth programming, sponsor court refurbishments, and donate basketballs and equipment to local programs.
Impact Made
Over ten action-packed days, Hoop Bus made waves across the Bay Area, transforming and revitalizing vibrant courts and igniting a passion for basketball in local communities. With the help of we hosted 10 high-energy PE Takeover School Assemblies, transformed three iconic courts, unveiled the first ever EV Hoop Bus, and hosted a series of dynamic social community events in collaboration with incredible organizations.
PE Takeover Series
With special thanks to our friends at PUMA, Hoop Bus brought our PE Takeover program to 10 schools throughout the Bay Area, reaching over 2,000 students. The 2025 NBA All-Star PE Takeover Series visited:
West Oakland Middle School
ELITE Public Schools
Elmer Cave Language Academy
Edna Brewer Middle School
St. Joseph’s
MLK Jr. Elementary
Oakland Technical High School
St. Peter’s Catholic School
Starr King Elementary
Oakland International High School
The PE Takeover is a two-hour assembly program featuring station-based workshop rotations and a school-wide assembly. It integrates social-emotional learning with basketball by pairing mentors with students to promote self-love, discipline, teamwork, and an attitude of gratitude.
Court Refurbishments
St. Peter’s School (San Francisco, CA) – One of our most memorable and impactful projects, this court resurfacing and mural project was a true community effort. Designed by St. Peter’s teacher Ms. Ria Fresnoza, the artwork was brought to life by a coalition of local artists, including Bud Snow, Darin Balaban, TJ, and La Maxima, along with more than 20 students. This project was made possible through a grant from The Olympic Club, a contribution from Jackson Family Wines, donated resources from alum Miguel Guzman, and the generosity of Goalrilla, who provided brand-new hoops. The court’s inauguration was a celebration of culture and community, featuring a performance by Xiuhcoatl Danza Azteca, a thrilling student vs. teacher game, and recognition of the student artists. Special thanks to Principal Sandra Jimenez for her leadership and to John Ring and Karin Haskill of The Olympic Club for their unwavering support.
Ingleside Presbyterian Church (Oakland, CA) – A gym with nearly a century of history, this space is home to the lifelong work of Reverend Roland Gordon, whose hand-collaged mural spans multiple floors, telling a powerful story of African American history. Hoop Bus was proud to contribute to this legacy by refreshing the court’s equipment, rewaxing the floor, and providing brand-new shoes for every member of Coach Mike’s program.
Linden Park (Oakland, CA) – Dope Era Playground – Led by Oakland hometown hero Mistah F.A.B and the Dope Era collective, this project celebrated the bonds of a community that shaped F.A.B.’s journey. The resurfaced court and mural honored friends, memories, and the spirit of perseverance, featuring hotspots dedicated to those who had passed on. Dope Era stands for transforming "Dope Dealers into Hope Healers," and this court embodies that mission. The grand opening was a community-wide celebration, featuring a youth clinic led by NBA All-Star Tyler Herro, an exciting 3x3 men’s and women’s tournament, and hundreds of free meals provided by Hot Boys Chicken.
